When people in the Far East aren't eating real disgusting creatures, they are apparently making simulcra of them in cake and icing, and sugar candy. Though these are technically closer to petit fours or individually-baked single serving mini cakes in concept than they are traditional cupcakes, they are still pretty similar. The challenge (in places other than Japan) would be finding (or having made) specially-shaped pans or ramekins that are contoured and shaped like the grubs and beetles this particular Japanese bakery features.
