Having just tasted a selection of the Cinnabon cupcakes, here is my "take' on them:
Carrot Cake cupcake: the cake componant was pretty average, and the pulverized sugar atop the icing for color gave it a sandy texture that I felt was undesirable, especially in contrast to the soft and light, sometimes foamy, texture of the frosting. The frosting itself, however, won my approval on the grounds that it wasn't heavy, cloying, and sugary like most frosting on commercially produced carrot cake. Instead, it had a surprising zing of lemony flavor. While this was unexpected, I felt it harmonious enough that they could get away with it.
Cinnamon Cupcake: I liked that this did not have an overpowering stripe of cinnamon like the cinnamon roll it was made to emulate; but that the cinnamon-sugar filling was gently marbled through the body of the cupcake. The cinnamon sauce swirled on top of the plain vanilla icing on this cupcake tasted more like sugar-water than anything else, however.
Chocolate Cupcake: the family consensus was that this had an "interesting" frosting and a touch of coffee flavor incorporated into the cupcake. I would describe the cupcake itself as being a chocolate mocha flavor. Everyone enjoyed it.
Vanilla Cupcake: The cupcake itself was undistinguished, but the frosting had an amped-up vanilla flavor. The little blue candy adorning the top seemed to be a cross between and M&M and a jellybean, if such a thing is possible.
