Cafe Angelique (http://www.cafeangelique.com/) opened a mini coffee and cake stand last year in a newsstand-like structure that had been previously used for the same purpose by nearby gourmet grocer Dean And Deluca (which also sells cupcakes these days...) at 121 Prince Street, between Wooster & Greene Sts. (Surprisingly, they don't list this location or its operating hours on their website, though some food bloggers have mentioned it). However, they painted it red (it used to be black, and blend into the surrounding architecture) and stocked it with cupcakes tagged with delicious-sounding ingredients in addition to coffee, croissants, and the like.
In this thread, I will be reviewing several of the varieties of cupcakes most, if not all of which are apparently produced by The Stuffed Cupcake (http://www.stuffedcupcakes.com/menus/stuffed-cupcakes/) in NJ, but sold in Cafe Angelique's NYC locations.

I bought two of these on a whim along with a bunch of other cupcake varieties when I last visited Cafe Angelique's cupcake stand. They taste _a lot_ better than they sound. The following is the official description:
Anna Banana Banana Cupcake
Stuffed with Strawberry Mousse and Topped with Strawberry Whipped Cream
The strawberry mousse and strawberry whipped cream tastes very fresh and actually more like raspberries than strawberries. But I don't think it's a bad thing. It goes very well with the mildly banana flavored cupcake below. I really didn't think banana and strawberry would go together all that well, but in this instance they do.
The dried banana chip stuck into the top of each cupcake is a nice touch, both aesthetically and from a flavor point of view.

Here is the official description of this cupcake from the menu of The Stuffed Cupcake, which supplies these cupcakes to the Cafe Angelique booth:
Nights In White Satin White Chocolate Cupcake, Filled With White Chocolate Mousse And Topped With Dark Chocolate Icing And White Chocolate Chips
I found it a bit rich, but my younger sister liked it and wanted me to get more. However, the Cafe Angelique booth rotates the cupcake varieites they sell, so the next time I was able to visit SoHo, they had an entirely different combination of cupcakes on display, and Nights In White Satin was not among them.

Cool Runnings Vanilla Cupcake Filled With Mango Amaretto Mousse And Topped With Peach Amaretto Whipped Cream And Fresh Mango
This is light, delicate in both flavor and consistancy, and though the use of Mango in a cupcake and its filling is unique, unusual, and probably aginst nature, it works. I'm in favor!

Chocolate Overload Chocolate Cupcake Filled With Chocolate Mousse And Topped With Chocolate Icing And Chocolate Shavings
It's nearly impossible NOT to like chocolate cupcake. What more can I say?

Chocolate Kismet Chocolate Cupcake Stuffed With Chocolate, Caramel And Peanut Butter Mousse With Chocolate Icing And Chocolate Chips
A complex and subtle blend of flavors in the filling, with one problem: peanut butter is never subtle. My younger sister, who doesn't like the taste of peanut butter in cupcakes, subtracted points from her estimation of this cupcake. I considered it OK, and give The Stuffed Cupcake/Cafe Angelique credit for trying, and think that more people will have a higher opinion of this one than either me or my sister. (I am a connisseur of more far-out flavors!)

Mellow Days Vanilla Cupcake Filled With Marshmallow Mousse Topped With Vanilla Icing And Marshmallow
I liked it. The icing had marshmallow flavor to it, but it was subtle and not overly sweet and sticky like marshmallow creme. Ditto for the filling. The mini-marshmallow on top was a nice touch for aesthetic reasons.
