Thought I would share this with you!

On a trip to town this week I saw the most gorgeous and elegant cupcake stand in a shop, priced at £39.99, ooowch!
What caught my eye was how unique it was, a stack of crockery, spaced with cups, a tower of four tiers it looked stunning.
I didn't have a spare £40 so here is what I did!
For a three tier DIY stand
Step 1: Go to a charity shop or a boot fair (if you are lucky enough to have one going on near you!)
Step 2: Find three plate, ideally a dinner plate and side plate and a saucer (the flatter they are the easier it will be to place cupcakes on them). I found two dinner plates and a side plate which works well too.
Step 3: find 2 cups, ideally you want ones with a handle, that look fairly dainty and have not too dainty a rim. I imagine a taller skinnier cup would work best, I just bought what I found at the charity shop!
Don't worry if none of the bits you have found so far match, this will just add to it's charm!
Step 4: whilst shopping go and buy yourself some super glue
Step 6: Thoroughly wash your purchases (not the glue!), put them through a dishwasher if you have one or soak in boiling bubbly water, it is important if you buy pre-loved crockery to completely clean.
Step 7: Allow to dry
Step 8: Stack your crockery different ways until you are happy with the design, I like to do mine like this:
Saucer
upside down cup
side plate/dinner plate
upside down cup
Dinner Plate
I angle the handles facing different ways on different levels, I think it adds to the quirkiness.
Step 9: Take apart each layer and glue it back together. I apply the glue to the cup rather than the plates, try to ensure the cup is place centrally, it will make it easier to ensure that the cupcakes sit nicely around it.
Step 10: leave it to dry over night. Your stand should be strong enough that you can pick it up from the top tier alone,
I wouldn't recommend sticking it in the dishwasher now, after use wash with warm soapy water.
Enjoy your new stand!
2 Charity Shop plates = £1.00
2 Charity Shop saucers (I only used one!) = 50p
2 Charity Shop cups = 50p
Super glue from pound shop = £1
Total price of stand = £3
Saving £36.99
