Cupcake Cake

[Heart Cupcakes]

This unique and clever idea caught my attention, it looks like a regular sheet cake from the top decorated and frosted as one whole cake but from the side you can see the cake is actually made completely of cupcakes! Easy to serve, forget plates and forks just pull apart the cupcakes and pass them out :laugh:

So, how do I make this? Has anyone done it before? I'm afraid to overfrost and make a big mess :(

I think there's a similar "cupcake cake" in the shape of a robot elsewhere on the forum. And I think I saw a caterpillar once. I bet the best advice would be to make sure your frosting is on the thick side. And if it's for a kid, there is no such thing as overfrosting :)
