hi there
sorry if this has probably been asked a thousand times before, but what should i be doing to the buttercream icing when it goes a little to runny once the colouring has been added, should i be adding more icing sugar(will this thicken it up again) or is it that its a cheap food colouring and i need to opt for the gel stuff or what! any help would be great many thanks k

i always use double the amount of icing as i do butter when making mine, and i use the gel colourings as they dont add more liquid into the mix plus you get a much better colour. adding more icing will thicken it up if its too runny but it may end up very sweet

Once its made up, put it in fridge (coverd) for half hour, then take it out, leave to stand for 10 mins or so and give it another good stir, and should be ok :smile:
