Question tea-infused cupcakes: a bad idea?

Another "haute" and "grown-up" flavor for a "kiddie" treat. While this is in line with the current emergence of high-quality, gourmet, exotically-flavored cupcakes marketed (and priced!) for adults, do you think cupcakes in tea-based flavor varieties (with matching frosting) as sold by Layers Cupcakes are a good idea?
I've had cake that had loose Earl Grey tealeaves baked into it, which was surprisingly good, but the Layers Cupcakes varieties do not make it clear whether they use boiled, strained tea liquid or dry, loose tea leaves in the making of these cupcakes and their complementing frostings. They also pair other exotic ingredients with the tea, some of which I might want to steer clear of, or which might cancel out the tea taste altogether. Alas, they have no pictures of the cupcakes in question. They seem to ship nationwide.

Hi Laura

I'm Ebony and I'm the owner of Layers Cupcakes. I'll be glad to provide you with some insight as to the development of our tea infused line. Firstly, if you're seeking pictures, they can be found on our facebook page www.facebook.com/layerscupcakes. Secondly, to answer your question as to our process we use liquid brewed tea in the batter as well as ground tea. We grind it so that our customers do not encounter large bits which are chewy or hard to digest and because grinding actually brings our the flavor in the tea while the cupcakes are baking. As far as the other ingrediens we use, I'm not sure what you would want to "stay away from" but we use ingredients that elevate and highlight the flavors in the tea rather than step on them. I've traveled extensively and studied food and have an appreciation for the simplicity of ingredients so I always want them to shine. Additionally, I spent a month in China sampling teas and learning about tea, spending a week at a restaurant where they cook with tea as part of their menu so I learned alot about this artful and delicious way of cooking.
